Traditional Maremma food and wine
The quality of the food and famous wine are sufficent reasons to visit the Maremma. The Maremma offers many wine and gastronomical itineraries to serious connoisseurs and those who simply love good wine and food. You can stimulate your palate with boar and acquacotta (a vegetable soup with tomato and egg), or papparedelle alla lepre, or tortelli vegetables and ricotta with gravy, ravioli stuffed with chard and ricotta ecc. In a land of hunters and fisher, there are tasty dishes of wild-boar, hare and pheasant, and fish dishes which are delicate and vigorous at the same time.
The Maremma cuisine has maintained its traditional recipes with their wealth of variety. Dishes ar simple and genuine and are strong or mild, fragrant or decisive. Both the wines and the olive oils from Maremma are exceptional.
In Maremma there is the Wine Trails Colli di Maremma with one of the princes of Tuscan red: Morellino di Scansano and others excellent winesas the Monteregio-Massa Marittima or Montecucco.
