Balestro del Girifalco
Massa Marittima each year in May and August, the "Terzieri" (districts) renew the centuries-old challenge to reach or hold the supremacy in the art of shooting with the crossbow (Balestra). The competition is preceded by a parade in medieval costume and an exhibition by the skilful local flag throwers.
